Nine Day Update

It’s been nine days in the house now, well past time for an update.<br />n<br />nNow, where are things.<br />n<br />nThe blue room is gone. That was the outhouse the workers used as a toilet. It also served as a temporary power pole when the electrical supply was disconnected from the house. Now that the power is connected back to the house and most of the subs and their workers are done and gone, we don’t need it anymore.<br />n<br />nThe container is almost empty. The container is a 24 foot (7.3m) metal box which housed most of our household stuff such as furniture. It has sat on the side of the driveway since last June. Last weekend, we moved a lot of the furniture back into the house, as well as all the other packed moving boxes into the garage, and now there are only a couple of spurious things left behind. We’ve already made the appointment for the company to come get it this Friday. That means it needs to be completely empty and I’ll need to figure out how to move the construction fence out of the way.<br />n<br />nThe camper is getting more and more empty. I’ve turned off the water supply and the water heater, though the electricity is still connected, mainly for lighting in case we need something out of it at night. We haven’t focused too much on it, but we should real soon so we can send it on its way, and realize the liquidity stored in it (another way of saying, get our money back out of it).<br />n<br />nThere are just a few things here and there that need tending to, such as the sump pump under the house which drains the condenser coils of the air conditioner, it needs a place to be plugged into.<br />n<br />nBut the two main areas that need finishing are the exterior paint and the cabinet doors, shelves and drawers.<br />n<br />nWe’re real close to getting our final inspection.
