Using the ‘macro’ setting on my camera, I took some closeup pictures of our emerging garden this afternoon. Allow me to share a couple of them with you. Remember, you can click on the images below for a full resolution version.
n
n

n
n<a href=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/image_files/garden_closeups_2008/dahlia_fireburst.jpg” title=”click to enlarge”><!– s9ymdb:30 –><img width=’220′ height=’165′ style=”border: 0px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;” src=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/garden/dahlia_fireburst.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”” />
nThis is a dahlia in full bloom. The color is so richly red that it looks like a burst of flame in the sunlight.
n
n

n
n<a href=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/image_files/garden_closeups_2008/dahlia_bud.jpg” title=”click to enlarge”><!– s9ymdb:29 –><img width=’220′ height=’165′ style=”border: 0px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;” src=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/garden/dahlia_bud.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”” />
nHere is a bud on the same dahlia plant that’s about to burst open.
n
n

n
n<a href=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/image_files/garden_closeups_2008/pollen_petals.jpg” title=”click to enlarge”><!– s9ymdb:31 –><img width=’220′ height=’165′ style=”border: 0px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;” src=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/garden/pollen_petals.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”” />
nWhat’s interesting about this shot is the soft coating of a powdery substance on the petals of the flower. Is it pollen scattered around, awaiting a transient bee to pick up?
n
n

n<a href=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/image_files/garden_closeups_2008/bud_unfolding.jpg” title=”click to enlarge”>
n<!– s9ymdb:27 –><img width=’220′ height=’165′ style=”border: 0px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;” src=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/garden/bud_unfolding.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”” />
nI liked the way this bud was opening. You can see five petals breaking out in a spiral fashion, sort of like a propeller. Look close and you can see it.
n
n

n
n<a href=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/image_files/garden_closeups_2008/bell_pepper_flower.jpg” title=”click to enlarge”><!– s9ymdb:28 –><img width=’220′ height=’165′ style=”border: 0px; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;” src=”https://www.jaworskihouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/garden/bell_pepper_flower.serendipityThumb.jpg” alt=”” />
nThis was to be a close up of a bell pepper fruit emerging from the flower, but the flower itself got the best of the picture. It’s under a canopy of leaves, shielded from the hot afternoon sun.
n
