This weekend found us heading up the hills to fetch a fresh cut holiday tree. We took the advice of a neighbor friend and went to a place on Black Road. We found a nice 7 foot Douglas fir which was third generation. In other words, it was the third tree harvested from the same stump, apparent from the previous, old cuttings. When we got it home, we counted 10 rings, and at the same time, got an opportunity to teach Penny about tree rings and how they correlate to the age of the tree.
n
nThe rest of Saturday was spent trimming the tree after moving furniture around, cleaning, etc, to make room for it. Penny really got into the decorating activity. She’s a natural!
