Measuring the Yard

We rented a thatcher on Saturday to hopefully get the back lawn in some better order. After running it over the entire area, it looked like mostly dirt rather than tufts of lawn sprinkled throughout. That’s because the machine is expecting grass, and we only offered it weeds.
n
nLooking at it all day, we decided it might just be better to til it all up and start from scratch, from seed. So Sunday, I mixed up a concoction of roundup in the sprayer and covered the entire lawn area with the poison. Used up the rest of the years-old bottle of roundup concentrate.
n
nMy plan is to bring in some compost late this week or early in the weekend, spread it around around, and fire up the rototiller for the biggest job it has ever had.
n
nThe site is about 1100 square feet (335 square meters), so I’m estimating I need about 4-5 cubic yards (3.7 to 4.6 cubic meters) to get between 1.5 and 2 inches (3.8 – 5.1 cm) deep.
