I went to give blood today at work since Stanford Blood Center comes to our campus to make it easier for us to donate. They have one heck of a questionnaire you have to fill out, including where you've been in the last 3 or 25 years. Told them I was in India a couple months ago. Since India is a place that has malaria, it disqualified me from giving blood for a year. So I'm not eligible again until March of 2013. Bummer, especially since I have a fairly rare quality of blood, not so much the blood type, but the fact that I test negative for antibodies to cytomegalovirus (CMV) which makes my blood uniquely qualified for transfusion to premature babies.
